Newborn twins! | Columbus Ohio Newborn Photographer

Today I had my first set of newborn twins (identical twin girls)!  Oh my, they were so tiny (5ish lb at birth, and totally perfect).  These little ladies were just over a week old.  I have to say it was challenging to pose 2 babies instead of just 1, but we got some totally adorable images.  Here they are!

Janie & Jack “Making Memories” photography promotion

This week is the Janie & Jack “Making Memories” photography promotion!  For followers of my blog, you’ll remember that I was contracted to do the same promotion back in October at the Polaris J&J and also at Pottery Barn Kids (Polaris & Easton).  This spring, they’re just doing Janie & Jack again, and the dates for the shooting is Wed 3/18, Thurs 3/19, and Fri 3/20.

I was set to do all 3 days, and then unfortunately my grandfather’s funeral was on Wednesday, and Precious Time Photography (the company who subcontracted me) was very nice about it and they were able to find Shannon Williams of Shannon Williams Photography to cover for me on Wednesday. There was a little mix-up about the sneak peek on the blog, and so if you were a client on Wednesday wanting to see a sneak peek here, I need an email from you saying you would like it. (to dianna(at)dgnphoto(dot)net)

So these here are a couple from Wednesday! (these were done by Shannon)

Sweet baby Joey | Columbus Ohio newborn photographer

I photographed this baby a couple weeks ago, and I just LOVED how these images turned out.  So much in fact, that I used a few in my new blog header.  This baby was just the curliest and snuggliest little guy… and a heavy sleeper (his parents are blessed for that!)  I had bought a few more newborn baby props and got to try out some that I hadn’t used before.  I just love the blue knitted hat, I’m really pleased at how the color pops out of the photo.  So here are a few pictures that I didn’t use in the blog header:

Published in Mothering Magazine | Columbus Ohio Photographer

Back last August I did a little photoshoot for Sprout Soup (which is a natural products for families and children store here in Columbus, they are located on N. High St. next to Dr Kvitko’s office and just south of the big post office on the corner of Henderson and High) to get some images for some ads that they were planning on running in Mothering magazine. It took me awhile to finally get to see the final ad, this one I believe is from the Nov/Dec issue that ran on the inside back cover.

How cool is that? :-) Even though I knew it was coming, it is really neat to see the final ad in print in a big magazine like that.

Actually, here is the original photo. This little baby’s a running around toddler now!

If you’ve been to my blog before, you notice that I finally have its theme matching my web site! Hooray! I was really not liking those standard blog themes. And this one lets you use big pictures. It’s still a work in progress (like anything else!) but I’m so happy to have this done finally.

Go visit your loved ones

I don’t normally write too much personal stuff on the blog and try to keep it photography-focused.  But I have had some time to think, on the long long drive home from Lansing, MI this past weekend.  My brother called me Saturday night at around 10 pm to tell me that our grandfather had passed away.  It was one of those things that was expected at some point, but this was pretty sudden considering my grandma had emailed a week ago saying he was doing great.  (He had bad alzheimer’s and had gotten fairly frail… definitely not the strong retired oil tank driver that we all remember).  The one thing I regret is that I hadn’t been up to visit since September… we had planned on it in January but they had a huge snowstorm and travel wasn’t advised.

After that, we just got too busy this weekend, and too busy that weekend.  And now… it’s too late to visit, and all there is left are some ashes and memories. So everyone reading this… just a thought for today… life can change in an instant, don’t put off what you should be doing today.  If you haven’t gone to visit someone you care about… don’t have any regrets, go visit them. (and if they wonder why you’re visiting them, just tell them Dianna told you to ;-) )

Another squishy newborn, baby Carolyn

This past winter’s been full of newborn baby photo sessions for me!  This one is from a newborn session that I gifted my cousin as a baby gift.  Baby Carolyn was such a little sweetheart, she was 14 days old and still liked to curl and sleep!  Filed under: Columbus Ohio newborn baby photographer, newborn baby portraits in Central Ohio

Something different… a black Newfoundland dog portraits!

I have to admit, I was surprised when someone called wanting portraits of her dog since I hadn’t done a dog before.  I was up to the challenge though.  And boy was it a challenge!  He was such a beautiful dog… and very ornery! He knows he weighs as much as you do, so he doesn’t think he needs to listen to you a whole lot.

Thankfully, he is bribeable with treats (what dog isn’t?)So anyway, here are some pet portraits of this guy!

Brittany’s senior pictures sneak peek

We really lucked out on the weather this past weekend!  Nice and warm outside… threatening rain but not actually raining.  And to think a week ago, it was 20 out!  So, we were able to keep with our scheduled session for Brittany’s senior pictures up in downtown Westerville, Ohio (suburb of Columbus, Ohio).  Columbus has some really awesome places for location sessions for senior pictures, and downtown Westerville, along with the Short North are a couple of my favorites.  They’re nice for this time of year when the parks are looking kind of brown and gloomy.

You can also see why I love doing senior picture sessions somewhere outside! There’s so many neat buildings and textures to add to the photos.  I get kind of bored with the same old same old backdrops in the studio.  I sure hope this weather holds up and we’re getting into spring, finally!!    filed under: senior pictures in Columbus Ohio, high school senior photographer in Columbus, Ohio and Westerville, Ohio, and Central Ohio, senior portraits
