Welcome to the Blog
I am Dianna Narotski, a professional photographer serving the greater Columbus, Ohio area. I enjoy most types of portrait and event photography, and I specialize in maternity & newborn photography, babies, children, families, and high school seniors. I also do weddings & engagements! If you are looking for a Columbus, Ohio photographer, check out my main web site at http://www.dgnphoto.net or give me a call at 614-323-3147.
I met up with Mary-Rebekah and Ben down at Goodale Park for their engagement pictures towards the end of October. It was my first time doing engagement pictures at Goodale Park, so it was a fun time for me to try out some creative stuff in a new location. The weather was fabulous! It does start to get dark early, and once the sun starts to go down, you lose light SO fast. This was the perfect time to do engagement pictures, because a week later, most of the leaves had fallen off the trees.
They’re getting married next July, and I’m very much looking forward to photographing their wedding!

We walked over to the Short North to do some more “urban” engagement pictures. Marcella’s is “their” restaurant (and they went there for some food after we were done with the photography session).

6 month baby pictures | Columbus Ohio baby photographer
October 23, 2009
I love the 6 month age so much! They are cute, smiley, with little chub rolls, and game for anything! This little guy was no exception. We had his 6 month baby portrait session at 8 am, when he is at his happiest (and because I was shooting a wedding later on in the morning), and we were able to capture a ton of very happy and cute photos down in my photography studio (in Olde Towne East, Columbus Ohio)

Emily & Kent’s Engagement Pictures | Columbus Ohio photographer
October 13, 2009
I met up with Emily & Kent at Inniswoods for their engagement pictures… and I asked them, “Are you more interested in posing smiling for the camera, or are you more interested in artistic sorts of shots?” I was really ecstatic when they responded that they prefer more artistic pictures… those are the ones that I really enjoy doing (both during weddings and for engagements). It was a fantastic day for photography sessions at Inniswoods… you would not BELIEVE the number of photographers and clients who were also there. It was actually kind of hard to get pictures without people in the background.
I’m also photographing their wedding this next April. Should be a good time!

Almost-Fall Park Family pictures | Columbus Ohio Family photographer
September 29, 2009
Yay! The fall leaves are almost upon us! Which is awesome because I was getting a little bit tired of the stifling hot weather. But it means winter is fast approaching… ok let’s just not think about that part. I love all the color in the fall leaves… there’s a very short fall leaf season that runs 2nd week of October into the first week of November (the earlier into it, the more leaves that are still on the trees). This is actually the most popular time of the year to get outdoor pictures done… last chance before the cold weather hits too!
As of right now, I have still available 10/3 @ 9 am, 10/3 @ 4:30 pm, 10/11 at 9 am, 10/24 at 5 pm, 10/31 at 9 am, 10/31 at 4:30 pm, 11/1 at 8:30 am, 11/1 at 3:30 pm. If you were thinking of booking an outdoor shoot, and are constrained by the weekend, then you’ll want to call fast, because these slots will fill up. (call 614-323-3147, just say the Blog sent you). For my outdoor park photography sessions, I do one in the morning and one in the late afternoon, since this is when the light is best in the sky.
Want to see a recent session? I thought so! Here’s a little sneak peek!

Ok this one looks kind of scary but cool at the same time. They were really having a blast!
This is their new baby… what a sweetheart, and look at all that HAIR!! I photographed this same family a year ago, and it was so nice to see them again, and see how their older son had grown (but still had the same spunk!)

We had awesome weather, and some fantastic light that evening.
Here he’s going PEEK A BOO! One technique that I use to get natural, happy expressions from kids is to play games with them. If the kids are having fun, they will have natural smiles instead of forced “cheesy” grins. (which if you catch my son with one, it looks more like a grimace of pain).

I have a lot of catching up to do with my blog. So you’re going to see a slew of new posts to follow. I really want to post some of these recent weddings that I’ve done. They were so much fun! Have a great evening!

1 year old! | Columbus Ohio baby photographer
September 3, 2009
I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet girl for the 3rd time this past year. The first 2 times were at the Janie & Jack photography promotions last October and then March. (She wasn’t very happy at the March one, she had a tear in her eye). I thought she was cute then, but goodness gracious, she’s grown into the cutest little one year old. Here’s just a little sampling sneak peek from her one year photography session at Inniswoods Metro Gardens in Westerville, OH.

Baby Willow | Columbus Ohio Newborn Photographer
August 18, 2009
I’ve been slacking off on updating the blog, somebody give me a kick in the seater!
I had this awesome newborn photo session this past weekend… I always get doubly inspired when I do sessions in people’s homes and can use their cool stuff. And especially so when the parents go “I don’t really have anything in mind, just do what you do!” Mom had a very cool sense of style, and some fun decorative elements in the baby’s room and elsewhere. And of course the baby was the absolute sweetest, very sleepy, very curly, and so tiny and adorable.
So here’s the sneak peek!

Kara, class of 2010 | Columbus Ohio senior pictures
July 7, 2009
I had a real good time working with Kara and her mom over at Inniswoods for her senior pictures. In fact, I ended up with so many good ones that I’m trying to whittle down 150 pictures! She requested going to the secret garden at the park, which I’d only used once before for a session, so it was fun for me to try some different creative stuff with the “new” area. So check these out!

Wish Upon A Hero | Columbus Ohio baby photographer
June 19, 2009
I’ve been slacking off on my posting sessions, must get back in the habit!
But I just wanted to take a moment to talk about this organization,Wish Upon A Hero. I’d never heard of it before. But a week or so ago, I got a call from a wish ambassador, on behalf of baby Leighton’s family, who made a wish to have a special family day and do have a family portrait taken. They explained their situation and asked if I would be willing to donate my services for their pictures. I said “Sure!” and went online to read about them. Here is their wish and their story:
http://www.wishuponahero.com/wishes/?id=272347
Wish upon a Hero is an organization web site where ordinary people can wish, and ordinary people can be a hero in a small way. I personally always find it more satisfying to donate a bag of clothes to someone who can use it, than to anonymously drop it off somewhere, where I’m not totally sure where they’ll end up. If someone does something nice for you, you can pay it forward and do something meaningful for someone else.
So this session that I’m about to blog, was their “Hero” session, and very special to both myself and them. Baby Leighton is 6 months old, and sweet as pie. Mom & Dad were so excited to finally get some pictures of her, and they came with their cowboy boots and hat to show their Texas pride. Here are some of my favorites from their 6 month baby photography session:

This past weekend, I had the honor of photographing this lovely family for the third time! The last time was for the youngest daughter’s 2 year pictures, and this year she is turning 3! And she is just as spunky as ever. You’ll see one from the 2 year session in the blog header, that one was also at Homestead Park in Hilliard, OH.
Here are a few of my favorites from their session:

I had the pleasure of meeting new baby Jolie (such a pretty name!) for her newborn photo session. We did her parents’ maternity session about a month ago (which you can see the sneak peek if you scroll down a bit in the blog). She has so much chub already, and I think she has the world record for the biggest poo during her photo session.
Here are some favorites for a sneak peek:

I think she really is smiling at her mommy and daddy in this picture!

Hi,
I just wanted to Thank You for reaching out to this family and doing the photo session for them. These are truly fantastic pictures and you are a Super Hero to this family. I have been communicating with this mom for a few months via Wish Upon a Hero and it is great to put faces with the names. I do not think anyone could have been more deserving of this special gift you have given them. You do awesome work.
Sincerely,
Beth Grant
