Patricia & Michael’s wedding | Columbus Ohio wedding photographer

On April 25, 2009 I had the pleasure of witnessing and photographing Patricia & Michael’s wedding, which took place at First United Methodist Church in Newark, Ohio. It was a beautiful church with an awesome big window behind the altar. The reception was held at the Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

Click here to view the entire wedding gallery (Click the slideshow button to view them BIG).

Here are a few favorites:

That’s her grandmother, who at 87, flew all the way from the Philippines to be at her wedding (with her grandfather too). That’s a long way to fly at any age, let alone 87!

I was a bit amused because all the guests upon entering were all waiting in line to sign the guestbook! We were wondering where people were, and then found out they were all standing in line waiting to enter the church.

I was able to run up to the balcony to capture this wide angle shot of the wedding while the minister was giving a 5 minute speech. I really like how it shows everything.

One from the series of the bride & groom shots after the ceremony in the church’s courtyard.

A panorama from when we got to the golf course for a few quickie shots.

These guys were a riot! I have some fun photos of them dancing, too.

Patricia hugged the guest and their dresses stuck together… it took 2 more people to get them unstuck. All was well, the dresses were unharmed.

Someone came over to me and said “hey, there’s an awesome sunset out there!” So we went out and got some great sunset shots.

I love this shot of them dancing!

They had a lot of dancing going on! The couple on the left, they really knew how to move!

love this shot of Mike.

Ok it’s hard to pick out all the favorites, so look at them all on that link above. :-)

Photographing Patricia & Michael’s wedding was so much fun, and it was so beautiful, you couldn’t ask for a better day. Best wishes to the happy couple!

If you happened upon my blog via a search engine and are looking for a photographer in the Columbus, Ohio area, you might want to go check out my main site which is at http://www.dgnphoto.net, where I have galleries & pricing information. And as always if you have any questions or would like to book a photography session, you can give me a call at 614-323-3147.

What kind of photography do I do? I am a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, but I would say I am primarily a portrait photographer and the majority of my clientele are people wanting family portraits, senior pictures, maternity & newborn photos, and children & baby portraiture. And then secondly I’m a wedding photographer, and I accept a limited number of weddings per year. Occasionally I wear a pet photographer hat, and I also do corporate & acting headshots. My studio is in uptown Westerville (hours available by appointment only), in the Columbus Ohio area, but I split my time there and out on location shoots (parks and urban areas are my favorite!)

My brother’s engagement pictures

My brother Donny and his fiancee Alison finally got down here to Columbus for their engagement pictures… of course now in November it’s frigid outside!  The only time we could do it was in the morning and the thermometer in the car read 25 degrees! BRRRR!!!  But I have to say, the frosty misty morning is really pretty, despite the cold.  We decided to take just enough so they’d have some to send in their Christmas cards, and then we’d visit the idea of doing a whole photography session in the spring.  They actually wanted me to set up a backdrop, but isn’t the lake a lot nicer backdrop? I think so! (yeah, they’re all posed and smiling… I like unposed, interactive, artistic… we’ll try to get those in the spring.  It’s a lot faster to just pose, shoot and go! :-)   It did warm up into the 40’s later on in the day, which felt pretty warm in comparison!! Gotta love Ohio weather.

Oh, and when they got into town, Alison said to Maylie “Guess what? Your uncle Donny and I are going to get married!”  Maylie replied, “Today, or tomorrow?” :D

Christina & Brian’s wedding reception at Hyde Park

Wow, how time flies.  I did Christina & Brian’s engagement pictures back in May, when October seemed so far away!  They had a beautiful wedding ceremony in Jamaica, just the two of them, and then held their reception here in Columbus at Hyde Park, in the Short North.  Christina did an amazing job of planning the reception, everyone had a great time, and it went very smoothly.  (My favorites are the cake cutting pictures, I think the whole room was laughing!)  Here are the pictures!

Brian & Stephanie’s Wedding

I had the pleasure of photographing Brian & Stephanie’s wedding on Friday, which was held at the Kelton House in downtown Columbus.  The dress, the location, everything was simply beautiful (except the mosquitoes!)  Check out the cake… pistachio and raspberry!  Stephanie’s dress was beautiful, with a vintage flair.  I got the wedding photos up on the web quickly (more or less unedited) so they could show them at their party the next day.

Here are the pictures!

Frank & Kellie’s engagement photo shoot sneak peek

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of shooting this young couple’s engagement photos… they’re getting married at Walt Disney World!  I seem to be attracting people who are having their wedding somewhere other than Columbus, Ohio, but would like to have their engagement pictures done here.  Fine by me, I love doing engagement photography.  It’s so much fun and makes me remember back in the day when my husband and I were dating and giddy over our own engagement.

These guys are so in love, it’s really sweet.  I hope that their wedding is everything they dream it will be.

Nathan and Emilie’s Wedding

I took a little trip down to Virginia Beach earlier this week to shoot my cousin Nathan’s wedding.  We almost didn’t make it because Northwest stranded us overnight in Detroit, and then our flight was delayed the next day, as well. We barely made it in time, but we made it!  I flew with my mom and my daughter Vivi (who had fun no matter where we were).

The wedding was a lot of fun, and the group was really into having some fun wedding pictures taken.  The ceremony was at a little park with a Japanese garden, and then the reception was in a hall on the naval base.

We’re getting ready to take a little vacation up to Put-in-Bay for a week, so I proofed the pictures as quickly as I could to get them online before we go.

So instead of a sneak peek, here are all the wedding photographs:

Matt & Melissa’s wedding – sneak peek

I had my first wedding as the official wedding photographer yesterday.  I really had a lot of fun!

Aside from having the darkest church on this planet, the wedding was simply beautiful. Their wedding colors were brown and sky blue, and they had 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, and 2 flower girls (Matt & Melissa’s daughters).  The blog doesn’t really do this picture justice, since the images show so small, but here is the formal shot of the whole wedding party:

After the ceremony, we had 20 minutes to shoot the formal pictures before the next wedding came in, so we had to skedaddle out of there real quick.  Then the reception was in the church’s multipurpose room, so it was a short little walk over there.  We took a few moments when the reception started to die down to get outside for a few bride & groom shots, like this one by their decorated car:

So I don’t overwhelm the blog with pictures, I’ll just post a couple more for the time being…

Ohio wedding photography

I thought it was cute that they were tying all the balloon bouquets together for this little girl to take home.  It reminded me of my cousin’s wedding where there were a lot of little heart soap favors left over, so my daughter collected a huge bag of the soaps.  In fact, we still have a big bag of little heart soaps, which we encourage the kids to use (or should I say ‘play with’) instead of dumping a brand new bottle of Bath & Body works hand soap down the drain in order to fill the bottle up with water…. yeah, my dear boy did that last week… but I digress…)

bride took her shoes off on the dance floor

Melissa decided her shoes weren’t for dancing in, but I thought they made for a nice photo op.

I’ve got tons more pictures, I’ll probably do a few more sneak peeks before it’s all said and done. :-)

Fun bridal portraits

I went to Inniswoods last night with a future bride (who is banning her fiance from looking at my web site, so I can post these :-) and we had some fun doing some bridal portraits.  She had her practice run of hair and makeup a little bit earlier in the day, and she brought along her friend to help smooth out the dress and assist.  We had some good fun!  Her wedding is June 7 at St Paul’s church in Westerville, and I’m doing the photography for it.  I’m excited, it should be fun!

We did the blushing bride theme…

We did some kind of artsy dramatic ones (too bad the sky was very gray with storm clouds, some bright blue would’ve been neat)

We did a few shots (of the camera variety) on the little stone bridge…

Christina and Brian – engagement photos

I had my first outdoor engagement photo session with this fun couple.  They are getting married in October, in Jamaica!  How romantic is that?  They are having a destination wedding of just the two of them, and then having a reception back here in Columbus.

We went to Inniswoods, because they said that they were outdoorsy people.  There are SO many good ones, that I might just have to post a couple more tomorrow.  I had some problems trying to decide which ones to post tonight for their sneak peek.
