I had the pleasure of photographing Amanda & David’s wedding at the Pool of Bethesda, CLGI on January 2, 2010 … first wedding of the new year! What a wonderful way to begin the new year, with a wedding, full of promise and love.  Their beautiful reception was held at the Embassy Suites Columbus Airport.  We couldn’t go outside for pictures… too cold! But the hotel had a gorgeous interior, perfect for some fun creativity.  Here are some of my favorite photos from their wedding day!

The balcony was decorated for winter at the hotel.  Very pretty!  I took this photo from the ground floor with a long lens… this was their send-off picture before they retreated to their room.

I love the fullness of Amanda’s dress, like a fairytale princess meeting her Prince Charming.

This was when they got into the limo to head off to the reception… it was bitter cold outside that day, they were troopers braving the weather even for the few minutes to get into the car.

This was take 1 of throwing the bouquet… the ladies were so excited to get it that there was a 3-way tie for the bouquet on the first toss.  When I photograph the tossing of the bouquet, I always aim to get that perfect shot with the bouquet mid-air and an action shot of the ladies catching it.

This fall has been crazy busy with photography… which is a good thing, but it’s bad as far as having the time to update my blog!  I have so many wonderful sessions that I would love to post.  If you are a blog subscriber, I apologize for the sudden influx in blog updates.

I had a lot of fun photographing Nikki & Javier’s engagement pictures.  We started up at Inniswoods, but got rained out after a few minutes.  So we rescheduled for later on in the week, and went over to Minerva Lake for a change of pace.  I love Minerva Lake, it’s a very beautiful, small park.

This next one was just me being creative… our shoot was the week before Halloween, and it was very dark and overcast outside.  So using my flash, I exposed for the sky and got a pretty creepy Halloweeny sort of shot that I think is fun.

Ok this next one was just them having fun! It makes me laugh when I look at it.

I met up with  Mary-Rebekah and Ben down at Goodale Park for their engagement pictures towards the end of October.  It was my first time doing engagement pictures at Goodale Park, so it was a fun time for me to try out some creative stuff in a new location.  The weather was fabulous! It does start to get dark early, and once the sun starts to go down, you lose light SO fast.  This was the perfect time to do engagement pictures, because a week later, most of the leaves had fallen off the trees.

They’re getting married next July, and I’m very much looking forward to photographing their wedding!

We walked over to the Short North to do some more “urban” engagement pictures.  Marcella’s is “their” restaurant (and they went there for some food after we were done with the photography session).

I met up with Emily & Kent at Inniswoods for their engagement pictures… and I asked them, “Are you more interested in posing smiling for the camera, or are you more interested in artistic sorts of shots?”  I was really ecstatic when they responded that they prefer more artistic pictures… those are the ones that I really enjoy doing (both during weddings and for engagements).  It was a fantastic day for photography sessions at Inniswoods… you would not BELIEVE the number of photographers and clients who were also there.  It was actually kind of hard to get pictures without people in the background.

I’m also photographing their wedding this next April.  Should be a good time!

On April 25, 2009 I had the pleasure of witnessing and photographing Patricia & Michael’s wedding, which took place at First United Methodist Church in Newark, Ohio. It was a beautiful church with an awesome big window behind the altar. The reception was held at the Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

Here are a few favorites:

That’s her grandmother, who at 87, flew all the way from the Philippines to be at her wedding (with her grandfather too). That’s a long way to fly at any age, let alone 87!

I was a bit amused because all the guests upon entering were all waiting in line to sign the guestbook! We were wondering where people were, and then found out they were all standing in line waiting to enter the church.

I was able to run up to the balcony to capture this wide angle shot of the wedding while the minister was giving a 5 minute speech. I really like how it shows everything.

These guys were a riot! I have some fun photos of them dancing, too.

Patricia hugged the guest and their dresses stuck together… it took 2 more people to get them unstuck. All was well, the dresses were unharmed.

Someone came over to me and said “hey, there’s an awesome sunset out there!” So we went out and got some great sunset shots.

Photographing Patricia & Michael’s wedding was so much fun, and it was so beautiful, you couldn’t ask for a better day. Best wishes to the happy couple!

My brother Donny and his fiancee Alison finally got down here to Columbus for their engagement pictures… of course now in November it’s frigid outside!  The only time we could do it was in the morning and the thermometer in the car read 25 degrees! BRRRR!!!  But I have to say, the frosty misty morning is really pretty, despite the cold.  We decided to take just enough so they’d have some to send in their Christmas cards, and then we’d visit the idea of doing a whole photography session in the spring.  They actually wanted me to set up a backdrop, but isn’t the lake a lot nicer backdrop? I think so! (yeah, they’re all posed and smiling… I like unposed, interactive, artistic… we’ll try to get those in the spring.  It’s a lot faster to just pose, shoot and go!   It did warm up into the 40’s later on in the day, which felt pretty warm in comparison!! Gotta love Ohio weather.

Oh, and when they got into town, Alison said to Maylie “Guess what? Your uncle Donny and I are going to get married!”  Maylie replied, “Today, or tomorrow?”

Wow, how time flies.  I did Christina & Brian’s engagement pictures back in May, when October seemed so far away!  They had a beautiful wedding ceremony in Jamaica, just the two of them, and then held their reception here in Columbus at Hyde Park, in the Short North.  Christina did an amazing job of planning the reception, everyone had a great time, and it went very smoothly.  (My favorites are the cake cutting pictures, I think the whole room was laughing!)  Here are the pictures!

I had the pleasure of photographing Brian & Stephanie’s wedding on Friday, which was held at the Kelton House in downtown Columbus.  The dress, the location, everything was simply beautiful (except the mosquitoes!)  Check out the cake… pistachio and raspberry!  Stephanie’s dress was beautiful, with a vintage flair.  I got the wedding photos up on the web quickly (more or less unedited) so they could show them at their party the next day.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of shooting this young couple’s engagement photos… they’re getting married at Walt Disney World!  I seem to be attracting people who are having their wedding somewhere other than Columbus, Ohio, but would like to have their engagement pictures done here.  Fine by me, I love doing engagement photography.  It’s so much fun and makes me remember back in the day when my husband and I were dating and giddy over our own engagement.

These guys are so in love, it’s really sweet.  I hope that their wedding is everything they dream it will be.

(I’m on a huge sun flare kick if you couldn’t tell. I love sun flares.)
