Stalk the blog winner

Congrats to Megan J. who was the first person to email me about missing a day on the blog!  She wins a $10 Starbucks gift certificate.  The contest runs until May 31, so keep on watching, I might miss another day (I hope not!)  I was just really busy a couple days ago and completely forgot to update the blog until 3 am, when I had a very happy and awake baby, I realized it too late.  Oh well. Maybe Megan will think about me as she sips her tall latte. ;-)

For a picture for today, while Maylie was at preschool, we went to Once upon a Child to get the 3 kids summer outfits.  This is why it’s best not to take Maylie shopping… If she goes shopping, then she wants stuff that I don’t want to buy for her, and then she’s upset.  (Maybe she’s 5 going on 15).  But if I surprise her with new clothes, then she is ecstatic and giddy about the new clothes, and loves them all.

This is how happy she was:

CAPV Open Market

I had a table at the Columbus AP Village Open Market today (held at the First UU Church), and had a really great time.  Boy, am I tired though.  I passed out a few business cards, and chatted with people.  Good times.  And somehow managed to only spend $20 (on a Hello Kitty Sigg bottle from Baying Hound).

So, I leave you on Saturday night with a picture to hopefully make you smile…

Little baby Vivi enjoying the yard

Here’s a shot I took of Vivi sitting out in the grass this morning.  She didn’t really know what to make of the grass, so decided to sample it a minute later.  I love how the grass has gotten  greener with all the rain, and a lot of the trees have started to bloom with pink flowers.

From a photoshoot in Newark, Ohio last weekend

I had a photoshoot in Newark last weekend of a great family, and I had a lot of fun!  The little boy was not so into having his pictures taken, but very into Star Wars, and it was a riot with him shooting me with his little pretend Star Wars missles and me pretending my camera was a missile (”PEW! PEW! PEW! I got you!”)

And this is why I’m a bit proud of this picture right here, it’s apparently not often that someone can get a smiling portrait out of him, and I got him to pose for one picture.

And then we have the sweet little girl, just 14 months old and very rambunctious as well.  She was very very  happy to be put on the ground to walk!

And then I leave you with this sweet photo of the baby girl looking at her mom’s necklace (about 10 seconds after she taste tested it).

A print for my wall

I’m sending out to get printed a bunch of large prints for display, and just did one for my house to add to the bunch.  You’ve probably seen these photos before, back earlier in my blog.  I just love these photos so much, I’ve been wanting to get them blown up big for my wall.

So this is going to be about 20″x28.5″, and I’m going to custom frame it with a black wood frame.  That’s a faux matte on it, done in photoshop (it looks real, I’ve done a test print with it.  I created the matte myself to resemble the real mattes I have on some artwork at home).  If I use a faux matte, I don’t have to put glass or acrylic in the frame.  I can just have the print mounted and sprayed with a finish and texture.  It’s going to look awesome, I’m so excited.

Who’s who?

The other day, I was asked if I’d do a business headshot to submit to Who’s Who in Black Columbus.  So, this is Sylvia Harris Douglas, who is a professional wedding planner owns A Wedding by Sylvia.  She is an extremely nice person, very polite and put together, and if I was in the market for a wedding planner, I’d definitely hire her.  So, if you are looking for a wedding planner in Columbus, Ohio, check out her web site, she’s done some fabulous weddings!

Guess who is turning 2?

One of my photoshoots from yesterday was a cute little girl who will be 2 in a week, and these pictures were for her birthday.  The weather was gorgeous yesterday! (It’s even warmer today, I broke out all the kids’ summer clothes!)  We had my first Inniswoods session in 2008. You can tell everything is starting to poke up out of the ground now.  I can’t wait for the real May flowers.

I think my favorite moment was when this other random little girl made our little girl burst out in happiness, sunshine and smiles.  She was totally ecstatic to see this other little girl, and it made for some great shots!  The other little girl was a bit dumbfounded, like “What’s going on?”

I started proofing the session this morning, here are a couple favs:

A couple photos from vacation

I’m beat.  I had 2 photoshoots today with small children and definitely got my daily quota of exercise.  And then I got a speeding ticket on the way home from the 2nd one (GRR!!).  I’ll post a sneak peek tomorrow, stay tuned!

But since I’m tired and I’m getting this post in under the wire (it’s 11:30 pm!), I will leave you with a couple photos from our vacation.

Playing on the beach

Here is my family playing on the beach.  I kind of wanted to show how Greg didn’t want to go near the water, but Maylie was having the time of her life jumping in the waves.  I don’t really blame him though, because the water was freezing cold!

The fishing pier

Here is another photo with a bit more of a wide angle.  I wanted to emphasize the length and size of the fishing pier.  It was really windy out (keep a hand on that stroller!), and it got windier when we climbed to the lookout area.  There’s Bill with Vivi in the stroller in the lower right corner.

Little birthday boy

This is a little guy that I photographed in March, when he celebrated his first birthday!  He wasn’t too interested in having his picture taken, but when his mom got out the smash cake, boy, he was all over that! What a cutie pie!

Notice the little bit of frosting on his lip:

Maylie got her hair cut…

See a couple posts down where she’s got longer hair?  This is how her hair looks now:

maylie's new hair cut

She looks so much older now!  But she wasn’t tolerating having her hair brushed, so the long hair had to go. The shorter haircut is a lot easier to take care of, and she doesn’t throw a fit when I brush it now.
