Family photo session at Inniswoods sneak peek

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I had the pleasure of photographing this lovely family up at Inniswoods earlier today.  The weather sure has gotten colder out in the past week, it was a tad chilly!  And we’re quickly losing light at around 6:30.  But we got some great fall pictures, here’s a little sneak peek!

It’s fall prime time!! (family photo shoot sneak peek)

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

WOW, Inniswoods is so beautiful right now! The fall colors are amazing, and the majority of the leaves are still on the trees.  I go up there at least once a week, sometimes more than that, for shoots, and in the span of one week, it went from having just a few colors to being gorgeous, with bright orange and yellow leaves.  Amazing! (of course they’ll all drop off just as fast, and then I’ll be grumpy about the bare trees until spring.  That’s when we start doing photoshoots in the city rather than at the park)

This past week, I had a lovely family with a very active almost-2 year old!  He sure did give me a run for my money.  But such a cutie and a lot of fun.

I need to change to a different blog style that lets me post bigger pictures (this one screws up the formatting if I do that), because you can’t see their faces as well as I’d like in the small pictures.

This one was the wobbly bridge that he thought was a lot of fun to jump on:

This last one, it’s hard to see in the little picture, but he has this HUGE grin on his face, and it’s just the epitomy of happiness.  He loved to be swung by the arms like that.

Janie & Jack Photography promo sneak peeks (last day)

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

As you can tell, I’ve been really busy! Last Thursday was the first day of the Janie & Jack photography promotion, Friday I did the wedding (see the previous post), Saturday I recuperated a bit, worked on the wedding photos and photos from sessions the weekend before, and today I had the 2nd day working at the Janie & Jack store at the Polaris Fashion Place mall, taking pictures of some more adorable little kids!

Are you ready for some cuteness? Hold onto your hats!!! (and again, the gray background is from turning the backdrop lights off… I find that when some kids move around a lot, if they get too close to the backdrop lights, they turn white and it ruins the photo.  Also, larger groups can fit on the backdrop if they are close to the back, and the lights need to be off for that.  But now I am kind of partial to the gray color, I really like it a lot.)

Janie and Jack photography promo sneak peeks

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Today I spent the day at Janie and Jack, doing their photography promo.  There’s one more day there, on Sunday (and that’s going to be a packed day!)  I had a similar setup to the one at Pottery Barn Kids, but I changed a few things with the lighting, so these will look a bit different.  This one I had a smaller backdrop (because of the smaller store), and I used 3 lights instead of 4, because the 4th got in the way of interacting well with the kids (much as I like the look of it!)  And because of the smaller backdrop, if the kids were moving around a lot, I turned off the backdrop lights (the ones that cause the backdrop to look white), because if the child would go in the lights’ path, they would look white too.  I kind of like the look of the gray backdrop though!

Anyway, are you prepared for some cuteness???

Pottery Barn Kids, day 4 (last day)… sneak peeks!

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Friday was my last shooting day at Pottery Barn Kids (Easton), here are the sneak peeks! (I meant to get these up last night, but I fell asleep while getting my youngest to bed, and the next thing I knew it was 5 am… I must’ve been tired!)

Pottery Barn Kids, day 3… sneak peek!

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

These are a bonus, I probably should stick with 1 or 2, but there were just so many cute ones!  There’s 1 more day of shooting, at the Pottery Barn Kids at Easton, tomorrow, Friday September 26.  I’ll be there from 11 until 5:45.  If I have room in my schedule, you can sign up on the spot for a free session. (I do have room in my schedule, so come on down!)

Pottery Barn Kids ‘Making Memories’ photography promotion

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Pottery Barn Kids is having a promotion where if you spend $200 in the store, you get a free photography session in the store with a free 8×10 print (this is a nationwide promotion).  I am contracted with Precious Time Photography (out of Idaho), who is subcontracting local photography studios to run the sessions locally.  Even though these images are owned by Precious Time, I’m authorized to show some sneak peeks on my blog for clients.

So watch for blog updates from these sessions at Pottery Barn Kids at Polaris Fashion Place mall in Columbus, Ohio and the Pottery Barn Kids at Easton Town Center in Columbus, all this week.  Janie & Jack stores are running a similar promotion end of Sept/beginning of October, and you’ll see me there too (at Polaris).

Monday, I got my feet wet with just one session.  As you can see from the rest of my blog, the majority of my portrait sessions are family sessions outdoors at the park.  So it’s a bit of a change of pace for me to use the studio lights and backdrop!  Anyway, here’s the super cute 4 year old boy from Monday’s session (with a couple extra sneak peek images thrown in for good measure!)

Recognize the dog? Yeah, that’s Greg’s dog. I snuck him out of the house because he makes a really cute prop. :-)

Family photo session at Inniswoods (sneak peek!)

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Right now I’m working on catching up on a few sneak peeks from the past several days.  It is always so hard for me to choose which ones to put up!  This family was a pleasure to work with, and I think their son is aiming to be a pro photographer when he grows up.  He had all kinds of ideas for good spots for pictures!

I love the fall, and how it brings out new colors.  The trees are just now starting to change color, it’s really the perfect time for pictures… before they drop off and the trees become bare and brown.

The cutest redheads

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

I’ve known this family for about a year now… we did the baby’s newborn session just about a year ago!  (boy, time sure flies!) These pictures were (somewhat) for her first birthday!  We went down to Franklin Park, which was a new place for me.  I think I want to go down there again! Their red hair is so gorgeous. I especially love how it looks with the little pink/lavender dress.

Little boy’s 2 year pictures

Friday, September 12th, 2008

This little guy is a big fan of Bob the Tomato (from Veggie tales), and one of my tricks for getting little kids to look at the camera, is to tell them that their favorite character is inside the lens.  He was more amazed at the idea, than thinking it was funny though, and throughout the whole rest of the session, he’d call my camera “Bob da mato?”  Little kids are so cute.

Anyway, we had an enjoyable photography session over at Inniswoods.  The weather and the light was great! I couldn’t have asked for a better day, or a cuter little subject.  Here is the sneak peek! (hopefully his mom hasn’t worn out her refresh button yet ;-)
