I had a busy weekend with a mass cleaning spree to get my house presentable for company, meanwhile they’re hitting ‘refresh’ and hoping for their sneak peek… well, I’ll make it worth your wait, guys… here’s 6 for your sneak peek.

Friday, I met up with this cute young family over at Inniswoods for their family photoshoot.  At first when I heard the ages of the kids (9 months and almost 2), I thought “oh, this is going to be a challenging shoot!” but the kids turned out to be very laid back and happy.  And we had a lot of fun doing some creative shots (which are my favorite, one of the reasons I like photographing on-location so much)

Ok now if you go back in my blog, you’ll find quite a few ’sun flare’ shots… I love sun flares, and try to grab one whenever I can.  This one is a play on the ‘couple kissing with the sun flare’ idea, with the kids on their shoulders.

I love his eyes, they’re such a pretty color blue.

This next one was actually not my idea, but theirs!  Baby in a tree… (she is actually being held from behind, so no worries of falling out of the tree!)

The light in this next picture, I thought was very captivating.  Such a warm glow.

And then we have the back/rim lighting from the sun and the interaction between dad and baby.  I thought this photo was very sweet.

If you look in the blog back a few days, you’ll see some silhouettes from a maternity session.  I am still in a silhouette mood, so I worked on another one this time.  I really like how you can see his long eyelashes (he was ‘done’, and we were headed back to the parking lot

Vivi turned 1 on July 19, and we had a little birthday party for her.  Just a small little family party, because she’s 1 and doesn’t even know she’s 1, let alone that it’s a party for her.  I didn’t even get her a gift.  Ok, I gave her the gift of life, and I feed her every day, so I figure that’s enough for a 1 year old.

Anyway, I do need to get my kids out to the park for some park portraits.  It seems like everyone else has great portraits of their kids except the photographer’s kids.  My goal is sometime in the next 2 weeks.  We’ll see.

Vivi’s a HUGE fan of cake. And ice cream.  What’s not to like?  She let her big sister and brother blow out her candle, but she quite managed to pick up her hunk of cake and eat the whole thing herself.

This cake moustache cracks me up.

The next day, we had leftover cake, and she learned the sign for “more” in about 10 minutes.  She’s getting her sweet tooth already.

I pulled out a few more photos of little baby Mason.  He’s such a cutie pie!  Look at how alert his eyes are:

Wed evening, I went over to photograph little Mason who has got to be the smiliest little newborn ever!  And I’m not just saying that, I’ve got photographic proof!  It’s like he’s sitting there all happy because he made a good choice for his new Mommy and Daddy.  I showed my step-mom the pictures on my computer today (she was up visiting from Las Vegas and flew out today) and you should’ve heard her going “squee”.  I’ll post a few more tomorrow (before the end of the work day, just for you to show your work buddies, Kurt) but check out all these baby smiles!!

Look at that last one, he was smiling at his Daddy! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that.  Little Mason weighed 5 lb and change at birth, and was less than 2 weeks old (still had his cord).  When he was awake, I’d swear he was looking right at me.  I’ve got several photos of his little newborn eyes looking right into the camera.  I remember my kids had these wild eyes that looked in weird directions for the first month or two.

Oh and not only was he full of smiles, but he was sleepy and poseable.  A lot of newborns, they wake up when you try to move their arm.  So I was able to get this shot that I’ve been aching to try for awhile (he’s lifted about 4-5 inches above the black backdrop)

Wait until you see his little eyes looking right at you.  It’s so cute. Stay tuned till tomorrow.

Makaylynn had her surgery a couple days ago, and they found out that they caught her biliary artresia early enough that her liver hasn’t been damaged enough to need a transplant.  That is awesome news!! I am so relieved and happy to hear it.  In honor of her, here is another picture of the cutie pie:

I had the opportunity this evening to meet and photograph this amazing family.  It was kind of a last minute thing (I was called this afternoon); they wanted pictures of their little baby Makaylynn before she undergoes surgery, and the only time to do it before she’s in the hospital was tonight.  So keep little Makaylynn in your thoughts and prayers that everything will go well.

They are such a beautiful family, and it was a pleasure to photograph them.  Here is a sneak peek:

I’m a little bit ahead of the game, posting some of my photography at 12:30 AM for the day, but I was inspired by the beautiful fields (ok, neighbors’ yards) of dandelions.  My husband sprays our yard so we don’t have very many in our yard. I thought, wouldn’t it be cute to have the girls sit in the field of dandelions and take the children’s portraits?

Maylie decided to drag the cat along for the ride.  She protested, but then accepted her fate.  And yes, Vivi did try to eat a dandelion…

I really like how these portraits turned out.

Just for kicks, since we hadn’t done it in awhile, I pulled Vivi into the studio and took a couple pictures of her  to commemorate her being 9 months old.  Isn’t she a cutie pie?

And then at lunch, she fell asleep in the high chair.  That was a first for her!

My son’s surgery went well today, in fact, he wants to play and not take it easy like he is supposed to be doing.  He’s liking the extra special food (popsicles galore) and the balloon from the hospital.  I took the girls this afternoon to have a meeting with a bride (my first foray into wedding photography, stay tuned!) and then we played at the castle park over on Huber Village  Rd in Westerville.  Oh and had ice cream. This weather is great!

Trying to post in the blog every day is sometimes hard, because I don’t have time every day to get out and take pictures. I don’t know how the people who are doing 366’s do it (they post a photo every day for the whole year).

So here is a photo that I took (over spring break) of Vivi crawling towards me.  The expression on her face I find pretty amusing.  She was just so pleased with herself that she was racing towards me on her hands and knees.  I think I just used the window light for this one.

Are you sure?? Because he’s really cute!! This little guy is 3 months old!  It was an on-location photography session in Westerville, Ohio. I took my portrait studio on the road and set up in their living room.

Here is a family portrait, and the baby is saying “What’s going on?”

And this one just makes me smile every time I look at it.  He was complaining saying “hey! I’m done with pictures! Where’s my binky?”
