I’ve been slacking off on my posting sessions, must get back in the habit!

But I just wanted to take a moment to talk about this organization,Wish Upon A Hero.  I’d never heard of it before.  But a week or so ago, I got a call from a wish ambassador, on behalf of baby Leighton’s family, who made a wish to have a special family day and do have a family portrait taken.  They explained their situation and asked if I would be willing to donate my services for their pictures.  I said “Sure!” and went online to read about them.  Here is their wish and their story:

Wish upon a Hero is an organization web site where ordinary people can wish, and ordinary people can be a hero in a small way.  I personally always find it more satisfying to donate a bag of clothes to someone who can use it, than to anonymously drop it off somewhere, where I’m not totally sure where they’ll end up.  If someone does something nice for you, you can pay it forward and do something meaningful for someone else.

So this session that I’m about to blog, was their “Hero” session, and very special to both myself and them.  Baby Leighton is 6 months old, and sweet as pie.  Mom & Dad were so excited to finally get some pictures of her, and they came with their cowboy boots and hat to show their Texas pride.  Here are some of my favorites from their 6 month baby photography session:

I’m offering mini-sessions until 5/31/09 (the details are posted on my site under ’specials’), which is a great deal. What kind of photography do I do? I am a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, but I would say I am primarily a portrait photographer and the majority of my clientele are people wanting family portraits, senior pictures, maternity & newborn photos, and children & baby portraiture. And then secondly I’m a wedding photographer, and I accept a limited number of weddings per year. Occasionally I wear a pet photographer hat, and I also do corporate & acting headshots. My studio is in uptown Westerville (hours available by appointment only), in the Columbus Ohio area, but I split my time there and out on location shoots (parks and urban areas are my favorite!)

We had another great day today at Janie & Jack.  So many CUTE kids!!  It just doesn’t get any cuter than this.  Anyway, for the parents who wanted sneak peeks, here they are!

Here are the sneak peeks from the Janie & Jack photography promotion, for Thursday!  We had a busy and chaotic day today!  It was a lot of fun… but I’m ready for some hot cocoa and my slippers.   Enjoy!

Back last August I did a little photoshoot for Sprout Soup (which is a natural products for families and children store here in Columbus, they are located on N. High St. next to Dr Kvitko’s office and just south of the big post office on the corner of Henderson and High) to get some images for some ads that they were planning on running in Mothering magazine. It took me awhile to finally get to see the final ad, this one I believe is from the Nov/Dec issue that ran on the inside back cover.

How cool is that? Even though I knew it was coming, it is really neat to see the final ad in print in a big magazine like that.

Actually, here is the original photo. This little baby’s a running around toddler now!

If you’ve been to my blog before, you notice that I finally have its theme matching my web site! Hooray! I was really not liking those standard blog themes. And this one lets you use big pictures. It’s still a work in progress (like anything else!) but I’m so happy to have this done finally.

This poor little guy was having some tummy problems so wasn’t a happy camper! Such a sweetie, I felt so bad for him that we couldn’t wave a magic wand and make it all better.

But here is his big sis! She is almost turning 3, and we did her 2 year pictures in April 2008, so it was great to see her (and her family) again! So we did a combo 3 year/newborn/family photography session.  Here’s Little Miss Spunky herself:

And she is such a devoted big sister!  (We’ll see how much she appreciates him once he becomes mobile and knocking down her toys! )

As you can tell, I’ve been really busy! Last Thursday was the first day of the Janie & Jack photography promotion, Friday I did the wedding (see the previous post), Saturday I recuperated a bit, worked on the wedding photos and photos from sessions the weekend before, and today I had the 2nd day working at the Janie & Jack store at the Polaris Fashion Place mall, taking pictures of some more adorable little kids!

Are you ready for some cuteness? Hold onto your hats!!! (and again, the gray background is from turning the backdrop lights off… I find that when some kids move around a lot, if they get too close to the backdrop lights, they turn white and it ruins the photo.  Also, larger groups can fit on the backdrop if they are close to the back, and the lights need to be off for that.  But now I am kind of partial to the gray color, I really like it a lot.)

I had a photography session yesterday with the cutest little boy.  He just turned 1, and he was my little buddy!  He’d see me with the camera, and then come crawling with a big grin on his face.  I have so many super cute pictures of him, but here are just a few for the sneak peek!
