Meet baby Hudson
August 31, 2008
If you look just a couple weeks ago, you’ll see his mom’s maternity pictures… well here’s the big guy himself! (all 8 pounds of him) He’s such a sweet baby, and likes to sleep. And he likes to poo in his sleep (daddy got his share of it during the photo session!) Their window light at their house is really nice, I loved using it for the first half of their newborn photography session, before breaking out my studio lights for the second half.

Deal Seeking Mom
August 28, 2008
Yesterday, I did a quick headshot for a really amazing woman. 5 kids (6 and under), works from home, AND has a blog with a huge following. I was looking at her blog, and there’s some really neat stuff on it. So if you have an interest in hearing about deals and saving money, check out http://www.dealseekingmom.com (you can see her headshot on there too.

Family photo shoot at Inniswoods sneak peek
August 24, 2008
I had a busy weekend with a mass cleaning spree to get my house presentable for company, meanwhile they’re hitting ‘refresh’ and hoping for their sneak peek… well, I’ll make it worth your wait, guys… here’s 6 for your sneak peek.
Friday, I met up with this cute young family over at Inniswoods for their family photoshoot. At first when I heard the ages of the kids (9 months and almost 2), I thought “oh, this is going to be a challenging shoot!” but the kids turned out to be very laid back and happy. And we had a lot of fun doing some creative shots (which are my favorite, one of the reasons I like photographing on-location so much)
Ok now if you go back in my blog, you’ll find quite a few ’sun flare’ shots… I love sun flares, and try to grab one whenever I can. This one is a play on the ‘couple kissing with the sun flare’ idea, with the kids on their shoulders.

I love his eyes, they’re such a pretty color blue.

This next one was actually not my idea, but theirs! Baby in a tree… (she is actually being held from behind, so no worries of falling out of the tree!)

The light in this next picture, I thought was very captivating. Such a warm glow.

And then we have the back/rim lighting from the sun and the interaction between dad and baby. I thought this photo was very sweet.

If you look in the blog back a few days, you’ll see some silhouettes from a maternity session. I am still in a silhouette mood, so I worked on another one this time. I really like how you can see his long eyelashes (he was ‘done’, and we were headed back to the parking lot

Family portraits double whammy sneak peek
August 19, 2008
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of heading over to Dayton to shoot two families at once. I set up my new high-key backdrop and lights set up indoors, and we did some in front of the backdrop, and some outside. We got some great shots and it was loads of fun.
These guys hail from Ireland, and I thought the Irish-themed dresses were too cute!

Their little girl was just too precious for words. So… how old are you? Is that 3 on the head?

Or… 3!!!!

This one makes me laugh every time I see it, so I had to include it.

And then here’s a sneak peek for the other family. These are a few of the studio lighting ones. I’ll just start out with a funny one because I love the funny ones.

And awwww so cute. I suggested that they hold hands to relieve his stranglehold over her head.

They are so sweet to each other!

And then a really sweet one with mom…

I had a real hard time just picking a few for the sneak peek, there are so many good ones!

Kathryn and Peter, expecting baby Hudson
August 11, 2008
The other day I had a really fun time doing maternity portraits for Kathryn and Peter. I really like having fun and different things to use for photography, and on their property they had a 70 year old tractor and HORSES! I’m a city gal with a postage stamp sized yard (you should see our pitiful garden), so I find things out in the country very exciting.
So my usual 1-2 hour photo session went almost 3 hours (I didn’t even realize the time!) and we got some amazing shots. She specifically wanted artistic maternity pictures, and I really enjoy letting the creative juices flow, so I think she will be really happy when she sees them! We also did some artistic ones with more skin showing (that aren’t something I can post in the blog, but I wanted to mention in case someone else reading would like that too) and those turned out really beautiful too.
This one is one of my favorites:

And another from the “on the tractor” set…

Courtney’s senior pictures sneak peek
August 4, 2008
Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting beautiful Courtney’s senior pictures up at Inniswoods park in Westerville, Ohio. She brought along her mother (who warned me that 3 kids doesn’t get any easier… uh oh) and her boyfriend, and I got to try some new areas at Inniswoods that I surprisingly haven’t done before (considering how often I am there!)
There are just so many good ones, and a lot of variety (I like variety), I had a hard time choosing just a couple for the sneak peek. So here are just a little smattering of them:

I LOVE THEM! I cant wait to see the rest! Thank you so much for all your hard work. : )
Really beautiful photographs, I especially like #3 & #6…
In my opinion, the most important element of a truly great maternity photograph (whatever the style) is to make it look like there wasn’t anyone there actually taking the picture! You nailed it with those – keep up the great work! -Rob
