Some kid pictures

I snapped a few shots today of the kids.  Here is the story behind them:

So, yesterday, we had a stir fry for dinner. Yum! Greg usually likes it, but didn’t want to eat his dinner. So we stuck it in the fridge, and I served it for his lunch today.   I don’t know if he was just being stubborn, but instead of eating, he sat and played.  This morning during breakfast, he strung grapes on this pipe cleaner (which was from one of Maylie’s art projects at school… I’m assuming they ate the Froot Loops off of it).

He then ate the grapes off of the pipe cleaner, and then used it to play with while … well, I can’t say eating, but sitting at the table and playing.

Vivi, on the other hand, possibly learned to eat inedible objects from her big brother.  Today, she had a snack of yellow crayon, the remnants still showing on her innocent little face.  Here she is, telling her brother to keep playing, it’s fun!

And well, she was just being plain cute while blowing raspberries at me.  Crayon-flavored ones.

Tonight I have a bridal session, and tomorrow a newborn session, so I’ll be posting some sneak peeks from those soon. :-)

Self-portrait

For some reason, I can take great pictures of other people, but when it comes to taking pictures of myself, it takes me 50 tries to get one where I’m relatively centered in the frame.  And isn’t some weird angle like up the nose.  So after 50 tries of the ol’ self-portrait with a camera in the bathroom mirror (look ma, no toothpaste spots!), this is what I came up with:

self portrait

This is for the redesign of my web site.  It’s been a lot of work… I’m hoping to get it completed in the next couple of weeks.  I can’t update my current site on my  Mac, I have to pull out an old Dell laptop that randomly shuts down to do so, so the site just doesn’t get updated.  The new site’s template can be updated easily from the Mac, and it’s a bit more robust (lots more “things”), so I’m excited that I’m getting closer to getting it up and running!

Nathan’s wedding

I almost forgot to post something today, whoops!  I talked to my cousin Nathan today, who lives down in Virginia Beach.  They’re getting married next month and didn’t have a photographer lined up (low budget), so I offered to shoot their wedding, so now they do! They’re getting married on June 23 (a Monday).  should be fun!

I am looking forward to doing the 2 weddings in June, to actually have some full weddings in my portfolio.  I have a few shots that i took at various weddings over the years that I really like (they were all done with the bitty point  & shoot camera)

I was more interested in taking pictures of my kids, of course.  Here they are playing with the guest book.

Watching the bride get ready…

mmm cakes at every table…

And then the wedding on the beach… the flower girls playing in the sand…

There’s Nathan at the end at his sister’s wedding.  Now it’s his turn!

Pictures from the picnic

We went to a picnic over at Blacklick Woods today, and I took along my little point & shoot camera.   Here are a few favs:

cute baby and silly face

This one is a fav, just because it makes me giggle.  I was trying to take a cute baby picture, but his mom was making funny faces at another baby (to make HIM laugh).  So I caught a cute baby with a silly mom picture. :-)

sleepy or hungry

I really like this picture, just because of how he’s peeking out from the blanket.  He was either eating his hot dog or trying to take a nap, so it seemed that I was disturbing him.

playing in the dirt

Just a boy playing in the dirt.  I was playing with some bright colors with Photoshop, and I kind of like the effect on how it brings out his sweater and the ride-em toy.

baby hugs

This picture isn’t exactly award winning or anything, but I had a proud Mommy moment when Vivi (almost 10 mos old) decided to give the other baby a hug. awwwwww!!!

daddy slinging 2 kids

This one, I was playing with some black & white effects in Photoshop.  I kind of like how it turned out. (and that takes some talent, carrying 2 kids like that!)

Actor’s funny faces

Today I had a headshot session with a young boy who’s an aspiring actor… he is trying out to be on Hannah Montana.  He explained it to me but I don’t watch the show, I’m more impressed that Miley Cyrus is Billy Ray’s daughter… “don’t tell my heart, my achey breaky heart…”  Apparently his try outs are going fairly well, and all the acting professionals really like him.

His mom wasn’t sure what kind of headshot they wanted, so we did the school picturesque headshot:

And the bit more creative headshot:

actor headshot

But, that’s kind of boring.  They should be asking for the plethora of funny faces this guy can make.  He’s a trip.  I was trying to get a natural, non-posed looking smile, so told him to “make a mad face. make the happiest actor in the world face. make a tired face.  make a silly face.”  And boy, can he make faces.  Check these out, they’re hysterical.

funny faces

He made some monkey faces too that were even funnier, but I didn’t capture them, since I was aiming for the laughs that come when he’s laughing at his own antics (course, I was laughing too).  I told him to remember the poor photographer when he’s rich and famous. :-)

Some favorite photos from last summer at Put-in-bay

I was thinking what I wanted to blog about today, and I was thinking of our trip to Put-in-Bay this coming summer and the photos I took when we were there last summer.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Lake Erie… I grew up in Sandusky (where Cedar Point is), and I really miss living on the lake, and going to the beach all summer.  Columbus being landlocked and all… it’s a little slice of heaven to get back up to the lake in the summer time.

Put in bay at night

This is a photo of Put-in-bay’s downtown at night.  I was playing with having my camera on a makeshift tripod, and taking some longer nighttime exposures.  I had this one blown up to a 16×20 size for my brother for Christmas (he LOVES Put-in-bay).

Fireworks at Put-in-bay, Ohio

These were from my set of fireworks pictures from the 4th of July 2007 at Put-in-bay.  We had a great vantage point! I really like how the different colors reflect on the things on the ground.  I’ve done a bit of research on fireworks photos, and this 4th of July, i’ve got some ideas of some things to try and see what I get.

Another one… I love the reflections in the water, reflections always intrigue me.

sunset over Lake Erie

And oh the sunsets. I love sunsets. The guy sitting on the picnic table (nice guy, he is an instructor for Ohio State at the Stone Laboratories there in the summer) seemed like he was just relaxing and taking it all in.

And another sunset over lake Erie.  Ahhh… these make me feel so nostalgic.

More from the engagement photo session

I’m having a lot of fun proofing the photos from Christina & Brian’s engagement photo shoot (which was at Inniswoods Metro Park in Westerville).  Here are a few more to show:

This one, I was going for the “in our little corner of the world” sort of idea.  Especially when I saw that big tree, and decided I HAD to use it.  I think the big tree is pretty neat.

Christina and Brian – engagement photos

I had my first outdoor engagement photo session with this fun couple.  They are getting married in October, in Jamaica!  How romantic is that?  They are having a destination wedding of just the two of them, and then having a reception back here in Columbus.

We went to Inniswoods, because they said that they were outdoorsy people.  There are SO many good ones, that I might just have to post a couple more tomorrow.  I had some problems trying to decide which ones to post tonight for their sneak peek.

Makaylynn’s great news

Makaylynn had her surgery a couple days ago, and they found out that they caught her biliary artresia early enough that her liver hasn’t been damaged enough to need a transplant.  That is awesome news!! I am so relieved and happy to hear it.  In honor of her, here is another picture of the cutie pie:
