Who’s who?

The other day, I was asked if I’d do a business headshot to submit to Who’s Who in Black Columbus.  So, this is Sylvia Harris Douglas, who is a professional wedding planner owns A Wedding by Sylvia.  She is an extremely nice person, very polite and put together, and if I was in the market for a wedding planner, I’d definitely hire her.  So, if you are looking for a wedding planner in Columbus, Ohio, check out her web site, she’s done some fabulous weddings!

Guess who is turning 2?

One of my photoshoots from yesterday was a cute little girl who will be 2 in a week, and these pictures were for her birthday.  The weather was gorgeous yesterday! (It’s even warmer today, I broke out all the kids’ summer clothes!)  We had my first Inniswoods session in 2008. You can tell everything is starting to poke up out of the ground now.  I can’t wait for the real May flowers.

I think my favorite moment was when this other random little girl made our little girl burst out in happiness, sunshine and smiles.  She was totally ecstatic to see this other little girl, and it made for some great shots!  The other little girl was a bit dumbfounded, like “What’s going on?”

I started proofing the session this morning, here are a couple favs:

A couple photos from vacation

I’m beat.  I had 2 photoshoots today with small children and definitely got my daily quota of exercise.  And then I got a speeding ticket on the way home from the 2nd one (GRR!!).  I’ll post a sneak peek tomorrow, stay tuned!

But since I’m tired and I’m getting this post in under the wire (it’s 11:30 pm!), I will leave you with a couple photos from our vacation.

Playing on the beach

Here is my family playing on the beach.  I kind of wanted to show how Greg didn’t want to go near the water, but Maylie was having the time of her life jumping in the waves.  I don’t really blame him though, because the water was freezing cold!

The fishing pier

Here is another photo with a bit more of a wide angle.  I wanted to emphasize the length and size of the fishing pier.  It was really windy out (keep a hand on that stroller!), and it got windier when we climbed to the lookout area.  There’s Bill with Vivi in the stroller in the lower right corner.

Little birthday boy

This is a little guy that I photographed in March, when he celebrated his first birthday!  He wasn’t too interested in having his picture taken, but when his mom got out the smash cake, boy, he was all over that! What a cutie pie!

Notice the little bit of frosting on his lip:

Easter dresses!

Before Easter, I took some shots of Maylie in the studio in her Easter dress (she still fit it from the previous year, yay!)  At 5, she really enjoys having her picture taken and is always happy to pose.  She REALLY enjoys the goofy smiles especially, I’ve got some goofy pictures I can dig up for some of my  next posts.

Stalk the blog contest starting … now!

For the next 2 months, I’m doing a ’stalk the blog’ contest.  I need to post once a day on the blog, and if I don’t… and someone catches me, the first person to email me with the catch will get a $10 Starbucks gift card!  Hopefully I won’t miss too many, that could get expensive!

To start, I’ll begin with one of our photos from vacation. We spent a week in North Carolina (where the weather varied from 50’s to one day of 70 and another day of 80). We went to Greensboro and stayed with my aunt and uncle for Easter, and then went to Emerald Isle and stayed in their trailer on the beach for a few days before driving back.

I have to say that I am glad I will never have to take such a long drive with a baby ever again! Our drive was dictated by whether she was sleeping, and if she was awake, she was usually not pleased to be stuck in a car seat. The other two kids traveled well thanks to being separated by the minivan rows, and by the dual screen DVD player. In fact, Maylie has been asking every day since then to go on another long drive because she wants to partake in unlimited movies again.

Here is one of the photos from the trip.  There was a lot of sea foam on the beach… and we thought it might be pollution at first, but then decided it’s probably natural from old books (ie. the Little Mermaid) referencing sea foam.  The sunset was on the wrong side of the beach, so I got up before dawn (at a reasonable 6:30 AM) to go take pictures on the beach and off the fishing pier.  I probably looked silly to the fishermen wearing my pyjamas out on the pier, but I barely dragged myself out of bed as it was!
