Maylie got her hair cut…

See a couple posts down where she’s got longer hair?  This is how her hair looks now:

maylie's new hair cut

She looks so much older now!  But she wasn’t tolerating having her hair brushed, so the long hair had to go. The shorter haircut is a lot easier to take care of, and she doesn’t throw a fit when I brush it now.

Skiing in the snow

My sister gave my kids skis for Christmas, with the idea that they’d all go skiing in the winter.  Well, they’ve gone only once, and it’s the end of February (winter in Columbus won’t last much longer!).  So I decided to give the kids some practice on their skis in the yard.  Let’s just say… it did not go well.  Vivi (the baby), did not tolerate being out in the cold (even bundled up in her snowsuit and a hat/scarf), and I couldn’t split myself in 3 ways to tend to Vivi inside and help the other 2 kids outside.  So we’ll have to reserve this for next time there are more adults around…

A couple, in a storyboard and a silhouette

I just finished proofing this session, which I did a week ago (at the Franklin park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio).  This couple was a lot of fun! They wanted some portraits of themselves for their apartment and for her mother for her birthday.  They laughed and laughed and had a good time the entire time.  So I was inspired to create this storyboard:

engagement photography session love

Since it was freezing cold outside (you can tell they were cold in the photos of the storyboard… we were outside for 5 minutes!), we had a short session in the portrait studio and a longer one on-location with natural light at the Franklin Park Conservatory.   They have some big frosted windows at the Conservatory, and I was inspired to try a silhouette with those windows.

I think it turned out cool!siilhouette photo of a couple in love

On an unrelated note, congrats to Lissi and Noah who won the grand prize for Intuit’s contest! Check out their blog at http://www.votecafeandplay.com to find out the inner scoop.  I’m looking forward to eating at their restaurant, and taking the kids there.  So a big thanks to everyone who voted for them!

Another congrats to Lindsay S. who won my January contest for a free photo shoot! Lindsay, please contact me to claim your prize!
