Family photo shoot at Inniswoods sneak peek

August 24th, 2008

I had a busy weekend with a mass cleaning spree to get my house presentable for company, meanwhile they’re hitting ‘refresh’ and hoping for their sneak peek… well, I’ll make it worth your wait, guys… here’s 6 for your sneak peek. :)

Friday, I met up with this cute young family over at Inniswoods for their family photoshoot.  At first when I heard the ages of the kids (9 months and almost 2), I thought “oh, this is going to be a challenging shoot!” but the kids turned out to be very laid back and happy.  And we had a lot of fun doing some creative shots (which are my favorite, one of the reasons I like photographing on-location so much)

Ok now if you go back in my blog, you’ll find quite a few ’sun flare’ shots… I love sun flares, and try to grab one whenever I can.  This one is a play on the ‘couple kissing with the sun flare’ idea, with the kids on their shoulders.

I love his eyes, they’re such a pretty color blue.

This next one was actually not my idea, but theirs!  Baby in a tree… (she is actually being held from behind, so no worries of falling out of the tree!)

The light in this next picture, I thought was very captivating.  Such a warm glow.

And then we have the back/rim lighting from the sun and the interaction between dad and baby.  I thought this photo was very sweet.

If you look in the blog back a few days, you’ll see some silhouettes from a maternity session.  I am still in a silhouette mood, so I worked on another one this time.  I really like how you can see his long eyelashes (he was ‘done’, and we were headed back to the parking lot :)

Family portraits double whammy sneak peek

August 19th, 2008

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of heading over to Dayton to shoot two families at once.  I set up my new high-key backdrop and lights set up indoors, and we did some in front of the backdrop, and some outside.  We got some great shots and it was loads of fun.

These guys hail from Ireland, and I thought the Irish-themed dresses were too cute!

Their little girl was just too precious for words.  So… how old are you?  Is that 3 on the head?

Or… 3!!!!

This one makes me laugh every time I see it, so I had to include it.

And then here’s a sneak peek for the other family.  These are a few of the studio lighting ones.  I’ll just start out with a funny one because I love the funny ones.

And awwww so cute.  I suggested that they hold hands to relieve his stranglehold over her head.

They are so sweet to each other!

And then a really sweet one with mom…

I had a real hard time just picking a few for the sneak peek, there are so many good ones! :-)

Kathryn and Peter, expecting baby Hudson

August 11th, 2008

The other day I had a really fun time doing maternity portraits for Kathryn and Peter.  I really like having fun and different things to use for photography, and on their property they had a 70 year old tractor and HORSES!  I’m a city gal with a postage stamp sized yard (you should see our pitiful garden), so I find things out in the country very exciting.

So my usual 1-2 hour photo session went almost 3 hours (I didn’t even realize the time!) and we got some amazing shots.  She specifically wanted artistic maternity pictures, and I really enjoy letting the creative juices flow, so I think she will be really happy when she sees them!  We also did some artistic ones with more skin showing (that aren’t something I can post in the blog, but I wanted to mention in case someone else reading would like that too) and those turned out really beautiful too.

This one is one of my favorites:

Courtney’s senior pictures sneak peek

August 4th, 2008

Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting beautiful Courtney’s senior pictures up at Inniswoods park in Westerville, Ohio.  She brought along her mother (who warned me that 3 kids doesn’t get any easier… uh oh) and her boyfriend, and I got to try some new areas at Inniswoods that I surprisingly haven’t done before (considering how often I am there!)

There are just so many good ones, and a lot of variety (I like variety), I had a hard time choosing just a couple for the sneak peek.  So here are just a little smattering of them:

Frank & Kellie’s engagement photo shoot sneak peek

July 28th, 2008

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of shooting this young couple’s engagement photos… they’re getting married at Walt Disney World!  I seem to be attracting people who are having their wedding somewhere other than Columbus, Ohio, but would like to have their engagement pictures done here.  Fine by me, I love doing engagement photography.  It’s so much fun and makes me remember back in the day when my husband and I were dating and giddy over our own engagement.

These guys are so in love, it’s really sweet.  I hope that their wedding is everything they dream it will be.

Newborn baby photo shoot (sneak peek)

July 27th, 2008

These are a couple favs from a newborn baby photography session from a couple days ago.  The baby decided that the evening was the perfect time to be awake, so we didn’t get too many sleepy pictures.  But, we took advantage of the little bit of sleepy time she did give us, and here are a few favs:

She’s such a pretty newborn. My newborns were all jaundiced and ruddy with bad skin, but her skin is very pretty and you don’t see that too often in newborns.

2 year pictures… take 2 (sneak peek)

July 27th, 2008

I’m a little bit behind in editing pictures, this past week has been crazy busy for me.  So for those subscribed, sorry for the mass amount of sneak peeks here, that I’m going to post.  I don’t like to spam people’s mailboxes…

Anyway, the weather smiled upon us, and after having 3 reschedules (2 for weather, one for sickness), we were able to finish our photo shoot!  Hooray!  We were starting to wonder if fate was trying to tell us something… (lol)

This little guy, what a cutie!  These are some fun ones:

I am on this sun flare kick.  And a hold kids in the air kick.  This one was just a small sun flare, just peeking a little through the trees.  I think he likes being way high up, what do you think? :)

Vivi’s first birthday

July 24th, 2008

Vivi turned 1 on July 19, and we had a little birthday party for her.  Just a small little family party, because she’s 1 and doesn’t even know she’s 1, let alone that it’s a party for her.  I didn’t even get her a gift.  Ok, I gave her the gift of life, and I feed her every day, so I figure that’s enough for a 1 year old.

Anyway, I do need to get my kids out to the park for some park portraits.  It seems like everyone else has great portraits of their kids except the photographer’s kids.  My goal is sometime in the next 2 weeks.  We’ll see. ;-)

Vivi’s a HUGE fan of cake. And ice cream.  What’s not to like?  She let her big sister and brother blow out her candle, but she quite managed to pick up her hunk of cake and eat the whole thing herself.

This cake moustache cracks me up.

Finger licking good!

The next day, we had leftover cake, and she learned the sign for “more” in about 10 minutes.  She’s getting her sweet tooth already. ;-)

And now for something completely different!

July 22nd, 2008

On Monday, I went to a studio lighting workshop here in town, and we worked on some lighting techniques.  These are some shots with the model they provided, named Jeremy.  (Normally the people I photograph don’t have unbuttoned shirts and boxers peeking out ;)  They decided to have a male model because the women photographers outnumbered the men…

His hair actually stays put in that flippy style, I wonder how much hairspray is in it…

Children’s photography sneak peek

July 21st, 2008

Ok I’ve finally had some time to go through the photos I took of these adorable kids the other day.  They were sweet as can be, and so cooperative (as much as a 5 and a 3 year old can be, anyway!)  I pulled a few favs from the shoot for their mom who is anxiously waiting to see them!
